Rambøll has won a major contract to supply IREE to build the world's largest solar heating system in South Korea.

The Danish engineering, design and consultancy company Rambøll has won a major contract to supply consultancy for the Institute of Renewable Energy and Environment (IREE) which plans to build the world's so far largest solar heating system in the province of Chungcheong in South Korea, writes national daily newspaper Berlingske Tidende.
 
The solar heating system will have an output of approx. 300,000 MWh annually and supply heat and cooling to 100 greenhouses, each 10,000 m2 in size, which are planned to be established in the area. The solar panels are expected to take up 200,000-500,000 m2 – the equivalent of 30-70 football pitches. The project is a major step forward in terms of CO2 neutral heating and cooling, with estimated annual CO2 savings of between 100,000-200,000 tons.
 
Head of Department at Rambøll, Klaus Jacob Jensen, says: "This is a great leap forward technologically in CO2 neutral heating and cooling. South Korea will benefit a lot from thesolar panel system, while we get the opportunity to promote world-class Danish know-how in this area. And all of it for the benefit of our climate. We are constantly receiving phone calls regarding consultancy on climate andsolar panel systems."
 
Rambøll is carrying out the project in collaboration with the Danish Horticultural Advisory Service, which will provide consultancy in relation to the greenhouses.
